Why - the guy was a serial killer, it is hard to show any form of compassion for him.

I am not showing any compassion for him - the jokes were surely about the old ladies he killed, ie. murdered a nan, dessert made from Granny Smiths. I hope he rots in hell.

It's a fair point from Spicy, how would we react if someone started cracking jokes about the Soham murders? Why is it acceptable (and let's be honest, funny too) to make gags about old people being killed and not two young girls?

I think the worst victims in any of these cases are the families. They serve their life sentences from the day their loved ones are murdered. They are disappointed that Shipman killed himself because the families were hoping he would give some of the reasons why their relatives had died at his hands. I am not judging anyone- only wanted to make the point. I have no sympathy for such killers but I think some people have. My joke "Myra Hindley was cremated today - its a shame she was dead!!" didn't go down too well with some people in my office, but I found it funny!!
