Newcastle striker Alan Shearer fears his career is over.

Shearer, scheduled to play three more games before retiring at the end of the season, limped off in the 71st minute of Monday's 4-1 win over Sunderland.

"It doesn't look good. They think there might be a tear in the medial ligament, and if that is the case then that'll be it for me I'm afraid."

-------------------------

While he's not everyone's cup of tea he's been the finest English striker I've seen in my lifetime.... But that's just my opinion.

Lots of happy memories from Euro 96, even if that grey strip was shit (not his fault though).

Shearer

Quality striker and amazingly loyal to his home town club despite their short comings.

He will be missed

What an unbelievable night that was!! A balmy summer's evening, watching the game in a small pub in the sleepy village of Gringly-on-the-Hill in north Lincolnshire with my blushing bride of 2 weeks...

Where did it all go wrong ??

Great Player. Was always a shame that he retired from England so early.

Think he retired as he knew he could not commit to club and country physically as he was getting older.

Saw Shearer get his first England goal (same game Lineker got his last Wembley England goal)... he has been a terrific player IMO

Agreed he shouldn't go for a career in punditry though.

Unbelievably boring man, the king of sitting on the fence (apologies to Trevor Brooking).
