Is it just me or does anyone else get annoyed that whenever there is a scandal or controversy everyone just adds gate to the subject?

I see we now have a thread on Forstergate.

I also hate contractions of two names to make one (Brangelina, Jedward). To me, it is mostly down to lazy headline writers.
