What he has achieved will never be repeated. Forget about all the off-field antics, he is one of a kind. Just signed ANOTHER one year extension, and will be 40 in November!(?) playing at the highest level. Still. Must be applauded.

I agree, exceptional footballer - yes but exceptional human being is historical revisionism of the highest order. Remember it wasn't just the affair but the millions spent on an injunction so he could keep it covered up. Think how that made the other parties involved feel. Not good

Brian Griggs (what he was called on Pro Evo soccer game years ago) is; or at least was, until the incident last year, an exceptional human being. Can't think of many footballers that have done anything like what he has in his career. He will be at united for years to come as coach and then probably manager at some point.

Ryan Giggs may not be a role model for perfect family life..................but as a FOOTBALLER he is second to none ( well maybe Messi in a few years time) One club, countless trophies, 22 years at the highest of standards, 999 first class games,

If we had one player with his attitude to the game he would be treated like a GOD.
Who is our most prolific, one club player?

He's a very talented human being, but not an exceptional human being. You could even say exceptionally talented human being, but certainly not an exceptional human being.

Maldini is the only one in recent years to whom he can be compared, and even his record pales in comparison really.

Yeah, that's more than fair. But I guess I was referring to appearances at top level.

And importantly, it's probabaly a bit easier to have a long career as a defender than it is as an attacking player. Either way they are both legends in footballing terms.

He is a fantastic professional footballer, call of duty beyond exception and lucky MUFC to have had him

Sir Stan Matthews still had ten years on Giggs, but the man is a machine, never seen anyone that good at 40
