Role of Director of Football

I have often wondered what is the remit of the Director of Football. It would be interesting to get peoples views on how they see it.

I see it in our case and a lot of other clubs with no money, as a way of avoiding paying compensation in a lump sum when you sack the manager thus paying him over the period of time of how ever long his contract is

Given that we are operating on pretty much a skeleton staff, I would reckon it's probably "jack of all trades, master of none".

Certainly I have NEVER heard McGhee say "Well I have consulted with the Director Of Football and he says....."

I will ask him at our lunch. Did I tell you I am having lunch with Mark McGhee....?????

As a club with no money can we really justify a reserve manager considering how few games the reserves play?? Surely that could be part of the Director of Footballs remit.

Does the Director of Football sit on the board? How does he direct football differently from the manager?

I think we should be told
