Rise and fall of the Liberal Democrats

Seems to me that ever since the days of Paddy Ashdown, the Lib Dems have been making very slow but nonetheless significant progress in UK politics.

They've been making gains here and there, and slowly making inroads and gaining popularity. It's taken a very long time, many many years to achieve.

Then in the space of the last 2-3 weeks, they've blown it all

Their problem is that they thought they could do better than Charles Kennedy and obviously they can't.

Plus it should be noted that a lot of stories have come out of the woodwork suddenly. If you were of a suspicious nature you could almost suggest a conspiracy.

The LIBDEMS are self destructing, and will be irrelevant by the time of the next General Election.
