It’s a long time since i used to do this sort of thing

My dell laptop top is dying and I need to replace it.

i have a Microsoft 365 on the current one which I pay an annual fee for. Question is how hard is it to find out the code to load it on to a new machine? I did it originally as a download and they send me the code which I can’t find the original email.

in the old days we used to load images on all our thousands of PCs etc so we only had one cd with the code on it.

any ideas?

thanks.

What Eeyore said. Older versions of Office are harder but if you’re on 365 you just need to ensure you use the same Microsoft account when you set up the new laptop..

Sort of related, I don't like subscription software like Office 365, it's like renting.

I bought a license key for office 2019 for a tenner and when I upgraded the laptop 5 years later bought an office 2024 license key for a tenner. Both were Office pro with all the apps.

How much is O365 these days?

£84.99 a year if you want the Office apps for 1 person or a more sensible £104.99 for a family account. But if you don't mind buying an under the counter VLM key then you get get the actual software for much, much cheaper. Even cheaper if you don't mind jumping through the hoops of telephone activation
