Ive bagged 4 tickets for the 2nd Round game in Hanover so should be Spain v France.

One of the lads whose name is on the ticket cant go now, so my question is how strict are they at the grounds about checking that ID corresponds with the Ticket Name?

The number of touted tickets makes me think not strict at all.

I think they've officially announced that they're no longer checking ID. I (shamefully I know) bought from a tout in Cologne, no problem. Don't hold me to it if it doesn't work but I'd say it should be fine.

I encountered no problems whatsover and it appears that they only question you if your ticket fails at the scanner turnstile. If not then you should be ok.

A mate of mine came out for the Trinidad & Tobago game using a ticket he aquired with someone elses name on it and he got in fine.

But one of the people in my group was stopped in the ground and and asked to produce their passport to verify it against the name on the ticket. Obviously it tallied up so all was ok but this does show that they are operating random spot-checks in the ground so it would be wise to stay in the vicinity of your seat once inside.

At the end of the day if you have a bona fide ticket (ie. not fake) then it is worth taking the chance as the risk is quite small.

I hope the above helps.

Thanks alot. Just bagged lfights for £75 too. Anybody done the train from Hamburg to Hanover? Is it worth booking in advance?

I posted this report from Bloomberg last week.
There were no checks at the stadium in Cologne on Tuesday. Just be wary of fakes.

By John Fraher
June 13 (Bloomberg) -- Fans will be admitted to World Cup
matches with tickets bought from scalpers, tournament organizer
FIFA said, reversing its policy of forcing supporters to acquire
them through official channels.
Fans can get into games ``as long as the ticket is valid and
you can say `here is my passport,''' Wolfgang Niersbach, vice
president of the organizing committee, told a press conference in
Berlin. Between 500 and 1,000 people are checked before each
match, he said.
World Cup organizers, trying to discourage hooligans and
scalpers from marring the event, previously said ticket holders
could only enter stadiums if their name was printed on the ticket
and they carried proof of identity. While the tournament has so
far been trouble free, FIFA's policy also made it harder for fans
to pass their tickets onto friends and colleagues.
Lapses in the ticketing policy became apparent on the
tournament's second day, when England fans filled about three
quarters of the 48,000-capacity Waldstadion in Frankfurt for
their team's first game against Paraguay. The country's Football
Association was allocated just 5,300 tickets for the game and
14,000 tickets for England's three group matches.
England's F.A. has an allocation of 4,500 for its next match
against Trinidad & Tobago at Nuremberg's 41,000-seat stadium in
two days. Scalpers in Berlin are seeking as much as 1,600 euros
($2,000) for a ticket to tonight's match between defending
champion Brazil and Croatia.

Tried to book the train but it only allows you to book 1 adult per booking?

Are the trains likely to be full? seems easier to get them on the day.

Much more expensive.

You can 'add' adults to your booking on the website.

A little tip. Do not get the train to the airport at 3:41am and then fall asleep and miss your stop. If however you find yourself in this position, I suggest you do not panic and get off the train in the middle of Germany with no clue where you are at 5am and no one around to ask. Germany is a very big country. Hope that helps.
