Asked what choice might mean to Hull - which he has represented since 1970 and was recently identified as Britain's most obese city - and he sings the praises of its people, football stadium and aquarium.

I don't mean to be pessimistic but I don't think we can read too much into the reported comment. He is a northerner making a comment about a northern place - no guarantee he would say same the same about Falmer.
