There are a number of threads on here about the situation that discuss that likelihood in depth. As breaking news goes SKY's report is about as current as your thread

Sorry for everyone except the money men that have caused this situation.

They will be the first of many to go to the wall if these fools are continually allowed to get their hands, and dirty money into our football clubs!

Money will be the ruin of the game, mark my words!

Portsmouth are way down my list of good clubs but their fans don't deserve this, surely?

Certainly makes me appreciate Sir Tony even more when I read about the demise of other clubs.

What have the fans done in response to these administrations and bad owners, what have they done to try to save their club? Genuine question. I mean, I don't recall reading abut them putting any pressure on owners, no attempts to encourage a consortium to bid for the club, no protests, and it doesn't seem like they've ever readjusted their expectations, leading to a real or perceived pressure on the owners to invest more and more to keep the fans happy.

if you can show me one shred of evidence anywhere that even one PFC fan showed the slightest concern as to their finances all the time they were paying MASSIVE wages to stay dining at the top table that is The Premiership and winning the FA Cup with players they could not afford I will have a bit of sympathy.

Ben Haim, Kitson, Lawrence, Kanu etc are being asked to tear up their contracts (and only be repaid the wages they have already deferred as part of a CVA in 4 years time - pretty much a case of "if ever").

For all I know they might have considered this "offer" seriously.

At that point, however, they might well have heard that Portsmouth Football Club were negotiating with Brian Howard, Simon Gillett, Izale McLeod and Sean Derry among others offering contracts that will make them the highest paid players lin League 1 next season.

Two questions:

1. If you were the players would you think that was an okay deal?

2. If you were the Football League would you lift the transfer embargo in these circumstances?

Two of my good friends that live in Brighton are Pompey fans and being somewhat brighter than the average Pompey fan, they... nah you're right, I've got nothing.

I know what you're saying, and appreciate that we were very fortunate to have some very clued up people as fans when we were in our darkest days and that no doubt led to us still being a league club.

But I don't think it's the responsibility of your average football fan to be expected to scruntise every detail of the team they along and watch for 90mins once or twice a week.

Lol. At least this might resolve the 'playing in southern Spain at 6pm in 40C heat' problem later in the week; as long as they are liquidated before then.

Yes, you're right.... If you have success you should worry about the consequences... Never going to happen is it?

Pompey supporters assumed that they're money men were genuinely interested in making the club a top club in the country I suppose.

Should all clubs question how long it will be before their backers will pull out?

Maybe the likes of Chelsea and Man Citeh should start asking serious questions then eh?

This is a fair point. Spending £300m is hardly going to make you think the owners are short of money.

Best thing for them is to get out of the league, reform with the fans in charge, make their way back up the leagues
I can't see another way out. Maybe the players will drop their wage demands if the club is going to go bust?
