If you have cable you can get it added to your package for a month but Sky is a year if its a new sign-up with them directly.

I shall be adding Sky to my cable package next Friday or Saturday. (it will cost me an extra £24 or so for the month with the full sky sports and movies package) Sky sports on its own with sky is £31 - £33

Actually I didn't have any sports channels till the beginning of this year. Last season I wanted to watch the Albion v Reading match on Sky and I was able to rent all the sports channels just for one month so I could see that game. They were ok about it too. Cost was about £6 I think. You will have to find out if they still do that though.
