People who use a comic genius and/or a legendary comic character as their avatar...

Why?

Cus I notice:

Chris Morris,
Mr Burns,
et al.

Why?

You see you'll have to help me, cus I'm just a bitter, thick, Geordie (like all Geordies... obviously!) who understands nothing about football or comedy...
Or should that be comedy football? ... Well?

Chris Morris is a genius and Mr. Burns a fantastic comic creation.

I seem to recall, however, an episode of a certain comedy that referred to a fat, sad loser (sound familiar?) wearing a T-shirt with Genius as its slogan... hmmm always makes me think that.

Kosh (please remember... my opinion, and mine alone, is sacred)

How is it any different from having an album cover?

Shit! You're right! It wasn't an episode of the Simpsons!

It was none other than Mark McGhee! Now he was funny, and quite jolly too in my opinion, which is, lest you forget, sacred.

I am never quite sure about the 'this is what I am into' style of avatar. Always seems a bit middle aged and nerdy to me, but hey ho its a message board for obsessives what do you expect I suppose.

If people really put what they were into instead of philosophers, prog rock albums and comedians, they would all be instantly banned or at least it would be difficult to tell who is who with all the avatars of people wanking over free granny porn on the internet.

The power of suggestion... Having an album cover says, again in my opinion:

"Hey I like this band, I find their brand of quintessential English Prog. Rock (for example) to be to my taste... blah blah blah etc."

A comic character, suggests:

"Hey I'm funny me etc. blah blah etc. If I’d had the breaks I'd of produced something akin to the wit of the Simpson's etc. blah blah and so on."

But I rarely find anything said individuals post to be funny...

So again, I ask why?

Mr Burns displayed his bile (recently towards myself and every Geordie, and I'm not even a Geordie!), it was not comic, nor funny... just puerile.

Indeed.. a puerile of shite...

Now that is funny.

or alternatively it is exactly the same as your music theory and they happen to like that particular character or show?

Psychologically speaking I feel it’s completely different...

Music is an oral pleasure (oh yeah!)

Comic wit can easily be displayed through the medium of the written word...

To me it's all a tad:

"I think I'm funny or perhaps slightly humorous... therefore I am."

I don't think... therefore I am, a Geordie. Kosh. (an ode to Mr Burns that one)

Of course people with Prog Rock Album Covers abd Religous Icons as Avatars should be given the skunk-eye,,,that would be the same as a bloke in a pub wearing a Creedence Clearwater Revival tour T shirt from 1972 or a hilarious comedy tie, you would shun them as you would shun a rabid dog surely.

No.

It represents a need to be recognised as being "funny."

And thus spoke NSC funny man/woman no. 587:

"Hmmmm I think I'll have a picture of (insert comic character here) he he they'll be laughing before I even say anything... oh God I'm funny... I am aren't I? Please tell me... Please etc."

"Also If I post abuse... it'll be deflected by my comic avatar! Genius he he shhhhh don't tell anyone..."

No.

I would strangle the guy with his own tie, and then buy the guy with the Creedance T-shirt a pint, talk about music of the 70s and generally rock out.

I would rather talk music tham listen to forced and unfunny jokes anytime baby... anytime.
