Whilst not wishing to revisit old arguments, McGhee's record includes 2 seasons in the Championship and only about 1 full season in total in shitty league 1, so hardly Bobbins ffs

Micky Adams got 95% of his results 1st time around in League 2

Taylor did well with what was basically a good team anyway

Clough was pretty shit given what he did before and after for Derby and Forest

Slade hardly has his feet under the table but promising so far

Wilkins of course was just lucky and completely shit

Coppell did marginally better than McGhee and he's a class act but once agin in a higher division

Which makes the comparisons worthless imo

taylor was very good, but in reality all he needed to do was tweak what was already a great side, and make them solid......we were also helped out by the fact that reading pretty much REFUSED to win a game for ages, and that also mr. zamora was by far the best player in the league

I'd agree but Adams is not a tinkerer he is a manager who needs to start from scratch at this level it seems. 4 or 5 decent players who could stay fit drafted in last season would have seen us have an exciting season imo.

What Taylor did was nothing short of a miracle imo. Zamora up front and a well organised defence meant 1-0 and on the back foot most of the game was good enough. Terrible to have to watch at times but ultimately fantastic. Adams, imo would not have taken us up, we'd started to slip and look a bit suspect by the time he walked out

i don't underestimate it at all, he did do a very good job, but at the end of the day he did inherite a very good side, what he did do was turn a team that would've probably finished in the play offs into a team that won it...aside from Lewis he barely added to the first team at all

in adams '2nd spell' i think the misconception was that all he had to do was 'tweak' when actually he probably had to do a fair bit more

Every year we have this discussion and really there is no contest. Considering the number of games he was in charge and where he took us to the one and only answer is Mullery in his first term. There really isn't anyone else to consider.

Regardless of what you think of him as a person, Mullery and should always be an Albion legend.

Talkning about this century is pointless as we've only had nine years.

Also, as others have said, you cannot compare managers who have had the team in different divisions.
