Shit. Just seen this is in the late editions of the Argus.

Albion's first home game of the new season has been thrown into doubt after a section of the South Stand was damaged in a road accident this morning.

A large section of the stand was involved in a collision on the M6 just south of Knutsford in the early hours of Friday morning. Details of the accident are at this time unclear, but the driver of an articulated lorry carrying part of the stand was taken to hospital, and was described as being "comfortable" after suffering minor injuries. The stand, comprising of some 4,000 seats in total, was travelling in a convoy on the backs of four trucks to St Andrews in Scotland for the British Open golf championships next week. It is thought that the second of the four trucks was the one involved, and has resulted in severe delays as seats and scaffolding were strewn across the carriageway. Albion begin their season in The Championship away to Derby County on 6th August. However, their first home game against Reading is on Tuesday 9th August, followed by another home game on Saturday 13th August against Crewe. With a little over a month until the first home match, it is not yet clear whether a replacement for the damaged stand can be found in time. The club is today investigating the possibility of switching the first two home games to their opponents grounds to buy more time for the club to resolve the crisis.

Season tickets due to be sent out next week have been put on hold owing to the possibility of fixtures being altered. Despite the potential problems, Albion chairman Dick Knight played down the incident, and moved to reassure fans that, while inconvenient in the short term, this would not cause a long term problem. "I am already in dialogue with the Football League, as well as the directors at Reading and Crewe, and we are discussing our options to resolve this in case we are unable to get a replacement for the South Stand in time for those opening fixtures. The stand is insured, so this will not cost the club financially, although of course this is very unfortunate. We will inform season ticket holders as quicky as possible once this has been resolved".

Albion Chief Executive Martin Perry was somewhat more concerned. "Holy SHIT" said Mr Perry today. "As if we havn't had enough aggravation, now we've got this to contend with. I've got Roy Chuter (programme editor) dodging traffic trying to drag seats and scaffolding off the road, and Steve Winterburn (head groundsman) sitting on the hard shoulder trying to bend it back into shape and make sure its all there. This is a f***ing disaster". Asked of the options of hiring additional seating in time for the opening home games of the season, Mr Perry was unsure. "These things don't grow on f***ing trees you know" he said. "It's not like I can go down Sainsburys Homebase and say 'can I have a 4,000 seater stand from your garden section please, and can you send someone to help me get it in the back of my Audi', is it ? I thought Dick Knight was the so-called miracle worker down here, why don't you go and ask him, for Christs sake ?". On being told we already have asked Dick Knight, Mr Perry terminated the interview and we were escorted from his office.

Albion fans have been asked NOT to contact the club at this time until a solution has been agreed.

Dang. First we had part of our ground stolen, and now this. We won't have anywhere to play come the start of the season at this rate. :lolol:
