O/T Camcorder advice please

I'm looking to buy a new one and I know nothing about them so any suggestions will be gratefully received!

I want something small that I can carry in a pocket or a small carrying case, not the bulky thing that I have at the moment.

For holidays mainly and family stuff, although possibly for business use occasionally.

I just want to download the stuff straight onto my laptop where presumably I can then edit with (preferably) free software. And by edit I mean chuck away the bad shots rather than do lots of creative stuff - such as getting Smith to score after all!

And I don't want to spend a fortune, maybe up to a couple of hundred tops unless its worth spending more.

And yes, Bozza, I will buy it through the Amazon link.

I bought myself one of these:-

Nothing exciting its not HD or anything but for the price you can't really go wrong. It uses memory cards so much easier than using tapes or whatever and its only £150 and comes with some video editing software. The picture quality is fine, again nothing spectacular but for the money you can't beat it.

Tankx Tinx, that seems the sort of thing. I hadn't thought of HD, I don't have HD yet but plan to get it when I move house. presumably they are more expensive?

YEah the equivalent HD version is about £500

I am interested in the sony tg3, benefits:

its hd and the smallest consumer hd camcorder,

it gets 5 * reviews about £420 on amazon and one great advantage, it can fit into your pocket, therefore you do take it out with you.
