Miami-based tycoon Milan Mandaric has expressed an interest in buying Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club following the expected sale of his stake in Portsmouth to Russian Billionaire Businessman Alexandre Gaydamak. The Seagulls currently owned by a consortium headed by Chairman Dick Knight are currently languishing near the bottom of the Championship.

The Serbian-born computer magnate is thought to have discussed his plans with Dick Knight during a recent match at Fratton Park.

Mandaric, whose empire has made him a multi-millionaire, failed in an attempt to take over the club nine years ago.

If only it were true

Probably not but even if...Mandaric has put in funds for first team players, mostly from overseas and with small(ish) transfer fees but high wages.

What he hasn't done is invest in the club's infrastructure...ground-have you been there!!-youth academy and training facilities.

Plus you get a media circus around him with quotes every day..some more coherent than others!!

Trouble with this story is that Mandaric hasn't actually sold his stake in Portsmouth yet, and he would be stupid to do so. The Russian has added more cash, but the overall ownership is split between the two of them. If Mandaric offloaded his stake now, he would run the risk of losing out on development of the Fratton area, potential income from a successful Portsmouth team, and he is certainly not that silly.

Milan leaving sooner rather than later

maybe this week according to BBC South Today

Wants to buy another club (prob in US I reckon)

Maybe why Redknapp wasn't too happy?

Pompey fans, bless 'em. Gaydamak is to be confirmed as a director this week, some of the Pompey fans think that means that there will only be one director, so Mandaric is going. Not true. He wants to stay, at least until the new ground is built. Pompey have the possibility of kickstarting this period of history, he won't walk out yet. And anyway, if we get Milan, we get his cash and his man-management skills, which are not good! He really wants to be a manager, he is too hands on. Gaydamak will put a bit of a block on this, as he has the ability to buy Mandaric out if he thinks his investments are threatened. Then again, as a former Israeli Defence Force sniper, if I were Milan I would make sure that I didn't put Gaydamak's investments at too much of a risk!

It was true, Mandaric did look at us before taking over at Portsmouth, but that was before the Goldstone was sold. However, he took one look at where we were and decided that we were too far on our way down the oblivion road to take it over, hence why he went to Portsmouth.

Wouldn't be surprised if he was interested in us again.
