I was there, complete with Albion beeny hat "that Virgo yae sold'us was shite"... up near Glasgow for work.

Pretty tedious up to that point, but it looked like none of the penalties was ever going to be saved at one point (and it was getting colder...)

surprised anybody there remembered who they bought Virgo from...most Celtic fan's footballing knowledge struggles to stretch to naming the other teams in the scottish premier league.

An FA Cup match a few seasons ago was (I think) 21-20 on pens - does anyone have the details?

Are you sure your memory is not failing you in your old age and this is the game you are thinking of?

The FA Cup Preliminary Round Replay
Wednesday, 31 August 2005
Culverden Stadium

Tunbridge Wells progressed to the First Qualifying Round of the FA Cup after a 2-2 draw against Littlehampton (AET), courtesy of a mammoth penalty shoot-out.

The FA Cup replay, watched by just 122 fans at Culverden Stadium, saw a new FA Cup record established for the number of kicks in a penalty shootout.

Kent League Tunbridge Wells won the shoot-out 16-15 after 40 kicks. There were two penalties in normal time too as the two sides battled to a 2-2 draw after extra time.

The match lasted for 3 hours 10 minutes and finished at 10.55pm.

Personally, I’m surprised that Littlehampton didn’t go through to the next round.
Seeing as they scored less penalties and are before Tunbridge Wells in alphabetical order!!

That's very funny, Fazz.
Actually I think I did quite well to remember this at all; it's not my neck of the woods after all.
Yes, I thought it was Tonbridge or Tunbridge Wells, so that must be the one, although I could have sworn the report I read mentioned 21-20. Maybe it was quoting a higher occurrence but at a junior match.
