But surely...

...the type of music collectively termed 'rock' or 'pop' is seen as a derivation of blues music with its simple 2/4 or 4/4 time, extended to include wider melodies and higher syncopations. Assuming this were to be accepted to be the case, surely all of rocka and pop would therefore be considered music of black origin?

That's spot on - except they're more likely to buy three or four albums a month, when the salary arrives.

I used to work for EMAP and had pick of their free mags - but Q was a waste of money even when it cost nothing.
