Norwich striker Dean Ashton will miss Saturday's game against Brighton because of a depressed fracture of the frontal sinus.
He was injured at Reading last weekend but played in Tuesday's win over Hull.
The 21-year-old started the warm-up with a facial mask but, after feeling uncomfortable, he took it off and played wearing a bandage.
He was substituted at half-time and afterwards he admitted that he should not have played in the game.
"I saw the specialist and he said I could play with the mask on or without," Ashton told the club's website. "But obviously the risk was there.
"The physio has advised me not to play without the mask but it was my decision.
"On Saturday I wasn't concussed - I was never concussed. I just felt a little bit dizzy when I got up on my feet."
Meanwhile, fellow striker Leon McKenzie has been ruled out for a further six weeks after keyhole surgery on his injured ankle.
