Lord Bracknell said:Sounds like it was a CAR crash.
But the railways, as usual, will be the ones to get the blame and all the scrutiny.

Train sabotage by vandals is the great unspoken nightmare of the government.
Frequently journalists will be asked to not report small-scale attacks on trains for fear of copycat actions by other morons.
Nonsense. In isolated rural locations, half-barrier level crossings are much safer than full-barrier crossings. I have lived next to a half-barrier crossing for almost 30 years. There have been very few incidents - and every single one of them has been the fault of a motorist ignoring the lights. It is unbelievable what some people will do as a result of impatience.MYOB said:Well it is Railtracks fault that a car could get on the tracks...
An understandable comment.MYOB said:Anyway, thats irrelevant. People are dead either way. RIP to those involved.
But it would be completely unacceptable for the railway in the UK to operate at a 30mph speed limit.MYOB said:Hrm, true.
Trains here go so damn slowly with Xenon headlights that almost burn through fog that the driver has stopping distance vision almost all the time. Hasn't been a fatality of a passanger on a train for nearly twenty years as a result.
