Umm...OK, I'll pick something from my collection at random..."Like It's A Bad Thing" by Gary Allan - big, catchy stadium rock with a country edge to it.

the last !!! album 'myth takes' is good, straddles punk, funk and electronica with intense left field pop sensabilities ...

panda bear - 'person pitch' has got the hairs standing up too ...

and never forget disco! try Lindstroms 'late night tales' for some very nice trippy chilled out in the sun bits and bobs ...

Radio 4 last album also very good.

and ermmmm, 'giles peterson in the house' compilation on the wonderfully new directed Defected records is sounding rather lush (while you're there pick up Tiefschwarz's super 2cd mix of Defected's recently acquired Strictly Rhythm back catalogue.)

Tiefschwartz.......f**king great. I saw them at their Berlin residency @ week12end. Utterly brilliant.

On a music tip why not join The Rounder Records album-of-the-month club. For £10 0n direct debit they will send you what they think is the most important album release that month along with a sampler of other stuff and recommendations for further listening.

I have been sent all sort of stuff I know (Hot Chip, Justice, 2 Many DJs) and some which has been a pleasant surprise 'of Montreal' and Cat Power.

If it is good an interesting music you want to get in tune with this is the thing to do.

Dengue Fever:

They're LA-based vietnamese and they play psychedelic rock. VERY VERY good.

Asobi Seksu:

Shoegazer guitars, Jap/Yank lead singer. Lots of crunching guitar sounds

The Rifles:

Local band. Big expansive guitar sound.

Miss Kittin:

Electronica at it's very best

Fannypack:

New York based hip hop outfit. Sound very NOW yet so retro. You'll love 'em

Silje Nes:

Fall in love kind of songstress. Beautiful voice.

Hafdis Huld:

See Silje Nes

How about those to be getting on with?

oops. Thought they were local. Mates sister is dating the drummer so I thought......

wrong. They are a great band though.

EDIT - got it completely wrong! The Rifles are a great band but I was thinking of The Lanes.
