Not really surprising during this Twenty20 break, he's never going to feature in this format so we need to keep him fit somehow for the four dayers.

Yeah I know, just remarkable that 3 years ago he had just returned from an Ashes series down under...

Are you sure its the same one? He only scored 2 with the bat, surely can't be the same one......

This is actually a very good idea, something the likes of Australia and New Zealand do all the time. Keep these players involved at club level, what a great thing for kids etc to play against.

Why is he not considered for the T20 games though? I saw him play for Northants versus Glos last year and his spell turned the game for Northants.

premier league cricket is not that easy to do well in... you will find many test players who have played UK league cricket recently and not all of them dominate every match. A few years ago Horsham hgad David Hussey as an overseas player, and Lewes Priory had a West Indian test player... they dont all smash it every week...

This.

The Lewes player you speak of was Rayad Emrit who also played for Preston Nomads. He was average at best for Nomads and was chosen in the Stanford XI as well as a couple of test caps I think.

Apparently he was average at best. Couple of mates in that team hit him for some maximums.

the point is, loads of test players play league cricket. Graham Thorpe, arguably englands best batsman for twenty five years, went to oz at the end of his career and made one 50 in a league season in sydney grade 1.

And actually, 4-61 for panesar is not bad figures...
