Who do you think should win??

I would say The Streets but I won't because that's too easy (although he f***ing well should).

Out of that lot I hope Jamelia wins it. Not only is she fine but she's proved that Pop artists do not have to be off of a tv show and it the songs that they make can actually have a bit of depth to them.

If not the Basement Jaxx or Joss Stone wuld get my vote....

I would say that The Streets are the new East 17 (which makes them a bit shit really).

Of that rather poor lot, i'd vote for Franz Ferdinand, who seemed to make a lot of people happy.

I would love to see Belle and Sebastian win it but I tihnk The Streets have got to be the favorites.

I don't think Keane or snow patrol should be in with a chance as they are not original or different to whats gone before. Same with Franz Ferdinand.

The Zutons are good outsider shout if you ask me, very exciting album and original.

Joss Stones album is covers so thats right out.

Don't know Jameia or Amy Winhouse albums so can't judge except I don't like eithe rof them.

Robert Wyatt's Cuckooland is one of the best albums of the year. He won't win but it's good to see him nominated - one of the true greats of British music.

Clear winner for me.

Music of Black Origin, Dave.

No, there isn't a 'Music of White Origin' awards.

'Cos the only "music of white origin" is classical.

No it's not. White people can win MOBO awards and there's nothing to stop you setting up the MOWO's.

What awards would you have in the MOWO's.

Least funky beat.

Most rednecked country artist

Dullest classical bore

I believe it was set up due to the lack of recognition of black artists at award ceremonies like the Brits. Craig David was overlooked by the Brits a few years back even though he was clearly the most successful male recording artist in the country at the time having also broken America. Insteead Robbie Williams won the award for doing absolutely bugger all.

Saying that having MOBO's and not MOWO's is like saying that there shouldn't be 'gay' Pride unless there is a 'straight' Pride. If you don't set it up it ain't gonna happen.

People got off their arse to make the MOBO's happen, you do the same if you want the MOWO's. Innit.

(ps At the MOBO's they DO give awards to people with white skin)

as much as people say its a good year for music, ive been very disapointed with new bands/albums this year, nothings really grabbed me.

last year I loved The Darkness and Athlete, this year I think bands are ok but have not set the world alight, franz ferdinand are good but very overrated Just like keane and snow patrol, altough snow patol are much better live.

I bet Amy winegum wins though

It has been a strange year. The has been a massive influx of young indie bands into the scene, so much so that none of them have been able to really grab the limelight: Razorlight, Keane, Snow Patrol, The Zutons, Franz Ferdinand, The Ordinary Boys, The Killers, The Walkmen, The 22-20's etc etc.
This may have something to do with why the scene seems a bit stagnant?

I agree that almost the entire music scene is stagnant, and that is across all genres. Indie is lacking the blurs, pupls, and Oasis's of 10 years ago. Nothing of real note has come out of the Dance scene. Urban has kind of dissapeared up its own arse and RNB is boring as hell.

I cant remember the last Album I bought that really blew me away or had lastability past a month or so. Its really depressing actually. Roll on the next big genre becasue something is desperatley needed to shake things up a bit.
