The way i read these stats is that we have only a 30% chance of winning each match we play. that's just not good enough in my opinion even given our present squad limitations.

Using those calculations and statistics 30 % of the points still available will not be enough to keep us up.

You know when I feel down I read a few of your posts life somehow seems so much better then.

statistics can be manipulated as you want like the 20 %of accidents are caused by drunk drivers that means 80% are caused by sober drivers.

But it is fact that 30% of outstanding points wuill not be sufficient so we need to improve greatly. The big question is how

Indeed, you can read anything into stats. From the same numbers quoted above, McGhee has a loss ratio of 28.9% which means we are only going to lose 5 more games this season.

Assuming that is right if the remainder are all draws we then come back to the same problem relegation.

The cause- not scoring enough goals- conceeding too many goals. Take your choice.

Okay, I'm reeeeaaaaaly bored..........so

From 114 games
34 won = 29.8%
47 drawn = 41.2%
33 lost = 29%

From 18 remaining games
29.8% = 5.4 wins = 15 points
41.2% = 7.4 draws = 7 points
29% = 5.2 defeats

22 points + current 25 = 47 points.

Enough to stay up ? Close call.

So - we have a 30% chance of winning each match? We also, presumably, have a 30% chance of drawing, and a 30% chance of losing each match. That's 90%. The other 10% accounts for matches rained off, snowed off, or cancelled for international weekends - or the matches when aliens come down and abduct us, or Russian millionaires buy us all out.

I can live with winning 1 in 3.
