definately the velvets, there peel slowly box set is superb. Have seen Lou Red three times and love his work but velvets for me was best. That said Berlin is the most depressing thing since Leonard Cohen

I saw him at the crystal Palce, one of the 70's garden parties where the stage had pond/lake in front? i was backstage and he was dragged out of trailer with bottle of wine in hand pissed as a rat. he was helped onto back of stage then literally pushed on....i went front stage and he was belting out vicious, whilst urging fans to jump in water. did not look as though he had had a drink at all, also saw him at charlton, and two london gigs
