f***'s sake. I couldn't make my mind up between front room and sitting room. Eventually plumpted for living room and even edited my post in the settee thread as well accordingly. This on account of the fact that I didn't think anyone else called it the front room.

Bollocks, I'm all in a TIZ now. :jester:

New word needed I think.

I mean "living" room - like you don't LIVE in any other room. Ditto "sitting" room.

Front room is from the days when people had a "posh-er" room at the front near the front door for guests and a back room which everyone spent most time in. Both were usually miniscule.

Drawing room - why? Someone on NSC will probably know.

I quite like lounging room rather than lounge.

"Drawing room" - from "withdrawing". Like where the laydees could go while the chaps had the port and cigars.

In this house we have the sitting room and the other sitting room.

The 'other' sitting room doesn't have any chairs in.
