Guess what the average life expectancy for men who retire at 65 is. It certainly shocked me and explains why men can;t be bothered to pay into a pension for 40 years. Its not pretty reading.

Dunno but my father-in-law who retired aged 62 is now 84, and still going pretty strong.

His pension is the best thing that ever happened to him - other than his daughter, of course... oh and his wife (better say that!!!) :)

The vaerage life expectancy for men is 73 ( but they must have retired will before 65 ).

Also if you smoke, you are 3 times more likely to die before 65 if you are a man rather than a woman. Thats because Men have a defect which is a weak heart.

Why is it mens hearts are much weaker than Womens ?.

Anyway have a happy weekend !.

On the flip side of that particular coin, smoking makes you 5 times cooler than other people.

Women who smoke are more likely to get lung cancer than men who smoke.

That stat is completely WRONG.
Tell me they averaged retired men after the age of 65 to live 1.8 years?? It doesn't compute - it would mean that most men died sooner, to average out the other ones that lasted many more years!!

Come on GG, this thread is as (extremely) sad as your donkey-race predictions.

Sounds typical of the way this world seems to work. Murphy's law and all that.

A lot of men live for their work. It makes them feel useful and wanted.
Quite a lot of men don't enjoy retirement and basically give up.

My Dad took early retirement at 62 because he was made redundant from Kearney & Trecker (old CVA)
He had loads of hobbies like the British Legion, Bridge club, Darby & Joan and Good Companians. He thoroughly enjoyed his retirement and said he didn't know how he found time to work. He lived to 78 dying of lung cancer (he had smoked since the age of 10) but at least he had 16 years of enjoyment after working.

Women who smoke are more likely to get breast cancer as well as lung cancer.

I have only got 3.5 years to go to retirement :clap2: Can't wait :clap2:

An uncle of mine decided to take it easy on retirement. He spent most of the day in his armchair, watching the box. He died within a year.
