Heading for a couple of beers in Lewes before the game tonight - whats the best pub within 5-10 mins of the station? Usually head to The Swan but got some Wednesday-ites in tow. Isn't there a pub next to the Harvey brewery?

The Pub next to the brewery you mention is called the John Harvey Tavern that has brewery tap. However this is about a 20 minute walk to the station as long as you know your way.

Closer to the station you have:
The Kings Head, Harveys and two guest ales (Very foody) (2 minute walk)
The Lansdowne, A variety of bitters and real ciders (full of students and teens) (1 minute walk)
The Royal Oak, Harveys and a Variety (not so popular) (2 minute walk)

Further a field.
The Lamb (Same as the Lansdowne and very quiet in the day) (5 minutes)
The White Hart (Is a hotel so may not be very welcoming) (4 Minutes)
Lincolns (A glorified Whetherspoons) (6 Minutes)
Brewers Arms (Good range of booze however not welcoming) (10 Minutes)

Always liked the Brewers and the staff have always been very friendly.

Nice one cheers. How packed does the Landsdowne get on a match day?

The Royal Oak hasn't had Harveys in about 8 years.

Got The Lewes Arms almost opposite The Lamb as well. For convenience I would probably stick to drinking in The Lansdowne. Tis a canny boozer. If you fancy a trek, then the JHT is a good'un.

20 minutes sounds excessive. It's only 8 minutes according to Google.

There is also the Gardener's Arms further up Cliffe High Street.

Do The Lansdowne allow away fans now??

They always seemed to but I was in there last season and some fat prick of a copper turned up and was tearing the landlord a new one because he's allowed away fans in. The bloke was quite rightly arguing that he's had away fans in for every game so far and there hadn't been a single problem.

Don't think I've been back in there since so wasn't sure if the old bill have enforced it.

Elephant & Castle or Lewes Ams I'd say - both less than 10 mins walk from the station. But for sheer convenience (and it's a decent boozer too), you can't go wrong with the Lansdowne (as long as the Wednesday mob are allowed in judging by the post above)

The only thing the Lansdowne has going for it is its proximity to the station, there are far better pubs in Lewes not too many minutes walk away.
