SUNNY SEAFORD
Why was it decided to put the largest stand on the sun side of the stadium? I'd have thought it would give the grass less chance to grow and also make the drainage poorer. Also won't it cause more shadows on the pitch for television coverage?

Most modern stadiums are built on the same orientation. Whenever the midwinter sun does appear, it means that it is not shining in the eyes of either keeper and that any glare is not in the faces of the managers on the bench or the press both of which are traditionally housed in the larger stand. All aspects of the weather have been taken into account when deciding on the pitch maintenance regime.
