ROME, Apr 03: PONTIFF IN POSTHUMOUS BLAST AT BRIT SOCCER BOSS Cardinal Angelo Sodano, The Vatican secretary of state, issued a statement Sunday in reponse to a visit from the British soccer official Iain Dowie, who manages the London club Crystal Palace. A senior Vatican source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Mr Dowie had gone to Rome to pay his respects to Pope John Paul II, who died Saturday aged 84. Card. Sondano's statement read: "Before the Holy Father passed into the next life, he made it clear he would like the following message communicated to the faithful in the event of such a visit. The statement reads: 'Who the f***ing hell are Palace? Who the f***ing hell are Palace? Who the f***ing hell are Palace in relation to me getting out of bed?'" ENDS 78470
