I'd doubt it, as the 20/20 was called off last night due to a waterlogged outfield.

Arafat is out of here til the the Twenty20 Champions League

hi all.

Back from Romania i am.

Heard on sunday by 2 different persons that yasir has been asked to buy out his contract for three remaining part of the season so that they can bring in Chawla as the club coaches have relisied that we are not going to get 20 wickets in our remaining LVCC games.

so have we resigned chawla for deff.????

Chawla is back for the season. Yasir was asked to step aside because of Pakistan in the champions trophy etc, but then he was left out of the Pakistan squads, so is not playing for anyone in England.

Chawla is in the squad for today, Yasir is still in our squad for the adventure in India, as is Dwayne Smith

SCCC today announced their squad ahead of today’s LV County Championship match against Lancashire at Old Trafford.
20-year-old Piyush Chawla returns as Sussex’s overseas player. Piyush will replace Yasir Arafat, who was in Pakistan’s original 30 for the Champions Trophy though he has not made the final 15. However, it was agreed that the Club needed to have cover contracted in the event he was selected, or is called up as a replacement, for the vital run in to the season.

Both Arafat and Chawla will be travelling to India with Sussex for the Champions League.

Chawla made an immediate impact at Sussex when he played two LV County Championship matches earlier in the season acting as cover for Yasir Arafat. The all-rounder took 19 wickets, including three 5-wicket hauls, and scored 129 runs, including 102 not out on debut against Worcestershire. The leg-spinner also played in one match of Sussex’s successful Twenty20 campaign.

Chris Nash is still sidelined with a sprained ankle, but Joe Gatting, who scored 99 not out against Yorkshire on Saturday, comes in to the squad as cover.

Mark Robinson, Professional Cricket Manager, said: “Piyush offers a lot on the field and impressed in his short spell with the Club earlier in the season. He’s a match winner and this could be crucial in our final few County Championship matches of the season.”

The squad is as follows:

PP Chawla
CD Collymore
JS Gatting
MW Goodwin
AJ Hodd +
CD Hopkinson
EC Joyce
RJ Kirtley
JD Lewry
RSC Martin-Jenkins
OP Rayner
DR Smith
MH Yardy*

No rain as yet today. Best we can hope for with the forecast is half a day's play. Chawla's return is timely as OT is a spinners wicket. Anyone know if there will be internet commentary?

Brilliant news about Chawla, Yasir has done the job in 20/20 and the limited overs stuff but has been poor in the CC.

Feel for Yasir who is a genuinly nice bloke. He has done nothing wrong but been let go first because of the overseas player rule and now tactical, although you could agrue both tactical due to losing out to a spinner.

I hope he at least makes some money out of the situation. The Pakistan squad for one day is almost like Australia of old, you cannot imagine someone of Yasirs capibility not making the last 15.

Anyhow lets hope Pushy can get us some bowling and batting points.

We should stick up a webcam at Hove, Horsham, Arundel and Withdean, they are fab.

Their new ground development looks impressive wonder how long the planning application took on that. First I new about it.
