Schadenfreude post.

With nothing to gain from league positions, compared to their £175m total income, took the decision to rest the entire Cup Final team.

Going into the semi against Everton, EFC were on fire, and LFC erratic in the league. And LFC broke their hearts at Wembley.

Anything can happen on Saturday.

Other than the very top, and Wigan/QPR/Bolton; the mid table has ended on a tedious wimper this season. Bit like the Championship and the Albion.

I can't stand Dalglish but I do understand his decision yesterday.

Their league season has by all accounts been something of a disaster and winning the FA Cup may be the only thing between him getting another season to turn it around or being quietly shuffled upstairs in the summer as it seems that even the Liverpool fans are starting to doubt him...finally.

Mass booing at the end

Best fans in the world apparently

Liverpool FC - one of the world's most famous clubs, are coming to the end of a season, where they have won 5 (FIVE) of their EIGHTEEN home matches. If it has gennuinely taken until now for them to stay away or start booing, then fair play to them.

That form would be unacceptable to fans of Bolton or Wigan.

That's a very good point, we start booing when we're 1-0 down at half time and are in 4th place after getting promoted from the league below the previous season.

Well (a) It's not the first time and (b) I don't see Bolton or Wigan fans telling the world how great their fans are. I tend to hear that kind of thing from Newcastle, Liverpool and 'lower league' Portsmouth and the bottom line is thier fans are no better or worse than anyone elses.

Not a fan of Dalglish either but can understand him taking the view that the history books would show them winning two major trophies this season (if they manage to win the FA cup) after years in the wilderness whereas losing to Fulham in a meaningless league match will be forgotten. No doubt their American owners want trophies too after the money they have spent.

Having said that Liverpool's home form is rubbish by their standards and you would expect it to mean a bit more to Kenny than he admits.

If the Albion were in the cup final this weekend would we save our best team for then?...........probably. Can't recall what we did in '83 but then we were already relegated so it was all about the Cup final. I seem to recall that we had players cup tied and Foster out too, so had to make changes from the league side.

Funny old game.
If city win the league, and LFC win the FA Cup (granted that's not gonna be easy!)
Who would have had the better season? manure with 2nd in the PL or LFC with League Cup FA Cup and 8th in the league?
LFC have been abysmal in the league this year and KD has shown some tactical inadequacies but 2 out of 3 isn't bad, as the song goes.
Anyway, no excuses, very poor form that has even Roy ahead of KD in results for the last 20 PL games. Although at least under KD we do get out of our own half occasionally.

KD and / or the LFC fans can pretend all they want, and cleary the trips to Wembley are great days out, but the FACT of the matter, is that for LFC to not be competitive in the Premiership isn't acceptable, either to the fans, or the owners. They are not even challenging for CL qualification. For a club of their stature and budget, it woeful, and not even an FA Cup win will hide that from anybody.

For sake of comparison, QPR and Blackburn, have won more home games this season than Liverpool.

Where you at the Brimingham game, there was a whole montarge before kick out about how great the players and management think out fans are and there are always posts on here following away matches raving about how we outsung the home fans.

You know as well as anyone that it's all about the League these days (or the Champions League). The fact is that any club, given the luck of the draw, can reach a Cup Final. Look at some of the teams that have been at Wembley/Cardiff in recent years. Pompey. Stoke. Cardiff. Millwall. Southampton. West Ham. It didn't make them decent teams at the time. That's where Liverpool are at currently.

United may not win anything this season (snigger), but there is no way on this earth they'd swap positions with Liverpool at the moment, cup wins or otherwise.

I seem to recall The Albion got distracted from league affairs enough when we were playing Liverpool. All the big deal going in, and we end up getting sunk 6-1!
It wouldn't be a stretch to blame a couple of lost league points on the hype of the Liverpool match - and we still bombed badly at Anfield.

Why were Sunderland and Newcastle not such a big deal then?
