I'm always intrigued (and slightly amused) by the very old photographs of crowds watching football matches - pictures in sepia; the men (mostly) neatly standing in rows, mostly wearing hats or flat caps and jackets, with the name of the opponents and the date written on a card and fixed to the fence. The five and a half day working week meant that many had to work Saturday mornings before paying thruppence ha'penny to watch the football in the afternoon.

I wonder if, in 50-100 years time, our descendants will look back on pictures such as these, and be similarly bemused? There's good social history being documented here.
