Hmm, not sure I'd enjoy working in a prison canteen, sounds like it could get a bit nasty with customers ever ruder than those at the London Road KFC (although some might be the same people). Still, each to their own, I'm glad you enjoy it and I suppose you do get the chance to spit in the paedophiles' food.

I thought inmates would be reprimanded if they treated staff that badly. You should tell the Warden and he'll punish the perpetrator.

My concern with that is that, if the inmate claims you provoked him with your original comment, you could end up in bother with your employers - always assuming you're not an inmate yourself as previously noted. This type of role is often filled using agency workers, whose employment rights are often minimal or non-existent in practice. If this is the case for you, it might be better to keep this to yourself, whatever the rights and wrongs of the situation. Unjust it may be, but it's the only pragmatic course of action.
