brighton, actually
going by statistics (and 8 out of 10 cats would agree..), od numbered Bonds (Connery, Mooore, Brosnan) sem to be the best.

www.craignotbond.com is calling for a boycitt of the new (?) Casino Royale film, with Craiiig David (or is it Daniel? you see my point...)

Eon Productios were MAD to let Pierce go, and I hope they see sense for the next film.

I mean, there are reports that the nee guy can't even drive a('normal', manual transmission) car..

geez!

explain?

I will give Craig a go....the thought of a stripped back Bond is interesting, as much as I'd love to see John Cleese as Q(?)

I didn't mind Timothy Dalton as Bond, The Living Daylights was the first Bond I had seen on the bigscreen and I liked A-HA so that might have swayed me also

According to 'Cubby' Brocolli, Dalton's portrayal was the most like the character in Fleming's books...

Both the Bond films he was in were actually pretty good...

License to Kill is my favourite Bond film as it goes. Dalton was a very good Bond - he just wasn't as mainstream as Connery, Moore and Brosnan.

Those guys are planks. Craig is a great actor.

I think Craig will be a good Bond. If you read the books, Bond is a lot nastier and colder than he is in the films, and I reckon Craig will portray this well.

Agreed. Craig is a great actor - BBC4 has been rerunning "Our Friends in the North" which was made in the mid 90's and followed 4 friends from Newcastle through 30 years from the early 60's to the 90's.

Craig is one of the roles, Christopher Ecclestone is another, Gina McKee the third and Mark Cox (the only one that hasn't done much else that I know of) was the other. Great stuff.

I will wait until Casino Royale is out before I decide. Have to say I was surprised they went for him though.

One of the complaints of the craig is crap camp, is that he's short and blond and not what Flemming had in mind, however as Flemming based Bond on one 'David Niven', I can't see their point. Also, Flemming hated Connery as bond (I thought he was the best)
BTW, Flemming worked for the secret service during WWII, Niven was Colonel of Phatom squadron, which was a type of special forces, the two worked together, they also used to get pissed together.

Moonraker is my favourite James Bond film, I don't think the new James Bond will be good as the others.
According to the anorak James Bond fans, 'Moonraker' rates below 'Diamonds Are Forever' and 'You Only Live Twice' for naffness, but not as bad as 'A View To A Kill'. The critics' favourite seems to be 'Goldfinger', although it's not really mine. I'd plump for 'The Living Daylights'.

But it's all about opinions...

I'm a massive Bond fan (Shall I quantify that? No that would be sad) and I have no problem with Craig in the role.

Funnily enough I boycotted and have yet to watch Die Another Day for exactly the opposite reason that those people have set up that website.

As for Craig not looking like Bond, what a load of shit. Bond is described as having grey eyes in the book. Have any of the previous actors had grey eyes? No.

This is a great story that is still very apt today and doesn't need overblown effects and John Cleese doing funny walks. Let's just enjoy it for what it is.

I think it's a bit harsh to condemn the new Bond before the film is released, but I bet the critics will say "I told you so" if the film end up a flop!

I quite enjoyed Die Another Day but not as a Bond film, more as a high-tech fast car chase sort of film. It isn't fit to lace the boots of the true Bond films. My personal favourites are Dr No and From Russia with love where Bond is a bit more ruthless and it's the film that entertains you rather than just the effects

At work - probably
I agree with Spiros the original Bond films without all the OTT effects are the best. Its interesting that Flemming should base Bond on David Niven (tall, slim english-gent type) - having read the books the person I had in my mind's eye was Liam Neeson
