According to The Guardian's Jacob Steinberg, Brighton is contemplating the return of their former manager, Graham Potter, as Kieran McKenna appears likely to remain at Ipswich Town.
McKenna, 38, reportedly turned down an offer from Chelsea and is poised to sign a new contract with Ipswich.
Potter left Brighton in September 2022 to join Chelsea after the club's new owners dismissed Thomas Tuchel. He signed a five-year deal with the Blues but was sacked on April 2, 2023, following a 2-0 home defeat to Aston Villa.
Recently, Ajax expressed interest in Potter, and he was also linked with the managerial role at Nice before the club appointed Francesco Farioli, the current manager of Ajax. Potter has been identified as one of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s top choices to replace Erik ten Hag at Manchester United if the club decides to part ways with the Dutchman. Additionally, Potter is reportedly a candidate for the England job should Gareth Southgate step down after this summer's Euros.
Besides Potter, Brighton's managerial shortlist appears limited. McKenna was a strong contender for the position. Farioli, reportedly De Zerbi’s preferred successor, was also considered. Rydstrom's system is heavily influenced by Fluminense’s Fernando Diniz and his concept of relationism over positional play. “It goes against everything that is logical,” Rydstrom said of his successful tactics.
