Don't remember exactly when, but my dad took me to an Albion/Chelsea match in the mid-70s, guessing around 74. The one and only time I sat in the South stand, and the only time my dad took me to a game. For some reason, even though he was a sports fan and a PE teacher, he never wanted to go to games (also, he ran a business open on Saturdays, so could not have gone anyway).
I've voted 70s, as that's what most would allocate that date to, though being a nerd I'd say it was the 60s, as a decade is from year 1 - 10 (the first decade not having started with a year 0). It was also the 69/70 season, so another reason I might have ticked the wrong box!
1960s. 1966 to be precise, sometime after Christmas but before the World Cup. The incredible thing is I went with some schoolfriends, no adults. Can you imagine a small group of 8 and 9 year old boys nowadays going on a train to a football match unsupervised? They'd be in care before the final whistle and the parents would get dogs abuse.
