I have this debate often.. I tend to go along with the view that the difference is a lie is malicious and an untruth (or fib) is not malicious... therefore if information is spoken of that is malicious and someone will get hurt or feel betrayed because of it, then it is a lie. Liars are scum!

I saw a documentary, a few months ago, about the Railtrack saga & Steven Byers.

He came across as a right snidey bullshitting tosser
