The chairman of Hull has just been talking on 5 live.

He was saying how the council realised that building a new stadium was a win win situation. Larger attendances means more money, means better wages, means better players, means success. Mostly though, it means pride in the community for the club, which encourages more supporters.
He did say that they already had a good fan base.

I wonder if JP was listening?

It's those selfish bastards in the shithole village who should be listening...but we all know they never will-unless it's something they want to hear.

The Hull chairman is exactly right. It would be a disgrace if the government were to refuse a proper stadium to one of their pet projects, the city of Brighton and Hove. And that is just one reason why Prescott will say yes:clap2:

Not entirely true, the ground was built as part of the conditions when Kingston Communications was sold (formaly Hull Telecom), this was owned by the city and some of the profits had to be pumped back into the community and the council built the KC Stadium for the football and main proper rugby team.

Uncle Buck is right.

When the Hull Telecom was sold part of the deal was that the ground would be built.

If anyone has ever been to the KC they will also realise that it is situated in 'a right shit hole' where the land was next to worthless and needed regenerating. This is not the same for Falmer.

It is also used for Hull F.C Rugby Leage as well as Hull City AFC. Also has facilities for netball, basketball and a learning centre for local residents.

We should get Falmer but its but its not the same situation as Hull. The land in Hull was not used and nobody wanted it. The building of the stadium was part of the general regeneration of Hull which has been going on these past 3 years.

Thats because they don't want to be part of the community. They want to be cut off in their repressed, backwards, inbred, utopia.

You're missing the point chaps. I wasn't intending to compare the Hull stadium with our situation.

Their chairman was stating that the local council had realised what a new stadium would do for the club & the community.

They will pass us by in the next few years....unless of course, we get Falmer!

Why is it that any Northern Town/City, Welsh or Scottish Town/City, Midlands, West Country, Kent, etc., etc., receive massive support for projects of regional pride, regeneration, stadia, etc., but Sussex refuses to move with the times?

I wouldn't be surprised to learn that there are still a couple of objections to the building of the Pavillion that are still being pursued by local NIMBYs!

But the whole point in Hull was the fact that the stadium was going to happen as there was a pile of cash that had to be invested in the community and decent sporting facilities was one of the things that the money was designated for. This is different from our situation.

Also Hull needed regenerating and a sports stadium helped do this.

Brighton and Falmer do not require the same degree of regeneration.

Uncle B,

Ah Hull Aand E. Many an interesting saturday night spent in there.

Yes, yes, but surely the effect of the new stadium would be exactly the same with Falmer...which is what I'm trying to say!

The situation at Falmer would be very different to in Hull.

The Stadium in Hull was built mainly because the money was there and basically it HAD to be built.

I know what you are saying about the knock on effect of a new ground would be the same but it would not be.

The area in Hull that the KC is in is not the best and the Stadium has supplied jobs and facilities for the local community.

It is not just football and has a learning resource centre for the local community that is heavily used.

Hull is a very old fashioned city in that the football club and two rugby league sides are very much part of the community in a very northern way. The estate in Hull now pretty much revolves around the KC in a way that the residents of Falmer would not get.

There was no opposition to the stadium in Hull and everyone wanted a new ground in their back garden.

The economic and social effects of the KC is unmeasurable and seen by the council as the speerhead of the regeneration project so it recieves backing from non football fans as well.

Would not bother, if you try and show it was a bad example as Hull was a very unique situation, toys will just get chucked.
