Homebrew question

Doing Homebrew again , started about 4 months ago and must admit the kits now are far superior to when they first come on the scene.
Done 4 lots of Real Ale already and just as good as what you get at the pub and only 40p a pint.
The only question I want to ask is if you want more fizz to your pint do you need to add more sugar when your priminng it when bottling. I have been adding the specified amount but doesnt come out gassy enough, I use brewing sugar .
Is it better to use normal sugar on the priming?
