Yes I was there. The game was a fitting dramatic climax to "the war years". Then the long "after war years" without a ground, playing 140 miles from home, then withdean started. And palace's only claim is that they were above us in the league as all this was going on. Goes to show the difference in the two clubs fans. The celebrations on RR's goal went on and on an on. Absolutely mental. I didnt realise how close the Hereford shot towards the end of the game was either or how bad the football was until I saw the game on TV.

Must never forget that season and the climax....to do so would be to ignore history and why we are where we are today. Surely it means that we appreciate the current good times more.
The sound of the final whistle was amazing.
Yes we should look to the future, but do so with the knowledge of the progress we have made.
