Gran Torismo 4 - any good?

Is it really much different from the others? (the other gran turismo games, not the hollywood film starring Nicole Kidman...)

I've heard it's so supposed to be great, but at the moment i'm playing Brothers in Arms road to hill 30. What is absolutely amazing.

Game are offering any chart game for a quid if you trade in three old games. Think I'll go for Gran Turismo (spelt if right that time).
