Iovan was with us during the play offs (IMO a very underated player), I think Sergei was around 1989. I could be wrong though. Gurinovich was 1990 I think as I remember him scoring against Scunthorpe in a 3-2 FA Cup win.

Sergai Baltacha,who joined Ipswich was the first Russian to play in the English leagues.

He wasn't as he's not Russian - he's Ukrainian.

I was behind the goal when he scored it. Remember it like it was yesterday.

One of my greatest footballing memories...amazing stuff.

Sergei carried on playing untill 1999 when he was 40 over in Minnesota for the Minnesota Thunder. His son Sasha also played for them i think and even as late a Sep last year they both played in a vets 'soccer history night' for the Thunder. His other son Andrei plays for Minnesota Stars.

Sergei coached kids football over there as well, not sure if he still does but you can see the Albion Great still thinking about Barry Lloyd in this 2010 photo...

Can you imagine his motivational tactics 'if your not good enough to celebrate before scoring...get out now'
