Who was the first and best B.H.A. goalkeeper you saw playing.
For me Brian Powney and best Peter Grummit.

By the seaside in West Somerset
Eric Gill was my first and Brian Powney my favourite even though he was probably not the best. That honour would have to go to Peter Grummitt - how long ago it all seems

Grummit (might have been Powney, not too sure)

Eric Gill. Was Powney better? Probably, but impossible to compare in Erics day, no comedy gloves, maybe knitted woollen gloves if freezing or less. If you didn't catch the ball, a goal would probably result. Which dry weighed at least four times the weight of present balls, if wet ten times the weight. A goalkeeper catching the ball and regaining possession of it for his team, is obviously forbidden nowdays as it never happens.
In Erics day you could also assault the goal keeper and barge him into the back of the net.

Joe Corrigan must be worth a mention.

You would be a coward if Don Goodman had nearly put your bollocks into your eye sockets.

I remember that, how much blood. Remember being impress with the amount of stitches he managed to fit on his Hampton.

Peter Grummit was the 1st Albion keeper I saw, as for the best, I'd go for Eric Steele closely followed by Graham Moseley and Joe Corrigan. Corrigan was the last goalkeeper of his generation who didn't wear goalkeeper gloves when he played.
