Blatter: Punish teams at bottom of Fair Play leagues

Fifa president Sepp Blatter has warned clubs at the bottom of Fair Play leagues across Europe that they should face tougher sanctions in 2012.
Each league in Europe currently runs its own disciplinary system within broad Uefa guidelines, leaving football associations free to set rules and to fine clubs accordingly.
But the 87-year-old Fifa boss claims some clubs are opening flouting rules due to ‘insignificant’ penalties.
“If you look at some of the dirty teams, like Getafe in La Liga or Brighton in the English Championship, they’re clearly not deterred by financial penalties,” Blatter told BBC Sport.
“To these clubs, fines of 20,000-30,000 Euros are insignificant – and they’re tarnishing the reputation of my beautiful game. Perhaps they should face a penalty before kick off?”.
Tougher sanctions, including forcing miscreant teams to start matches with 10 men, regular deduction of league points or even automatic relegation, are due to be discussed at the next Fifa executive committee in Zurich on 27 December.
Any new ruling could come into effect as soon as 1 January, if it’s approved by Fifa lapdog Michel Platini, president of Uefa.
Brighton & Hove Albion are at the foot of the Championship Fair Play table by some distance, with 51 yellow cards, four reds, no pies and an inadequate transportation system.
Bolton Wanderers currently sit at the bottom of the Premier League table. The dirty northern bastards.
The Football League declined to comment as its press team was having its office Christmas lunch.
