Sheffield United stretched their lead at the top of the Championship to six five points with a 4-0 demolition of Millwall at the New Den.

The Lions were unbeaten in their previous six games but they were no match for Neil Warnock's side, who scored twice in either half.

Danny Webber opened the scoring in the 33rd minute and Vincent Pericard added a second three minutes later. Alan Quinn grabbed a third mid-way through the second half, before Webber hit his second to complete the scoring.

Reading had to settle for a point from their trip to Hull, with Glen Little scoring their equaliser after Chris Brown had put the home side ahead.

Luton continued their flying start to the season with a 4-2 thrashing of Norwich at Kenilworth Road. The Hatters were four goals to the good at the break thanks to strikes from Warren Feeney, Carlos Edwards, Peter Holmes and Steve Howard.

Dean Ashton reduced the arrears for Norwich after the interval and after Calum Davenport was sent off, Ryan Jarvis added a late second for the visitors.

Rob Hulse was on target again for Leeds as they beat Southampton 2-1 at Elland Road. Hulse headed Kevin Blackwell's side ahead before Robbie Blake doubled their advantage, with both goals coming inside the first 20 minutes. Theo Walcott's first goal for Southampton was not enough to salvage anything.

Kenny Miller's fourth league goal of the campaign gave Wolves the perfect start against Derby at Molineux, but the Rams hit back for a 1-1 draw through Mounir El Hamdaoui.

Ipswich surrendered a two-goal lead as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Coventry at Portman Road. Goals from Darren Currie and Jimmy Juan put Town in command before Gary McSheffrey and Lilian Nalis hit back for the Sky Blues.

A last minute goal from Chris Sedgwick earned Preston a 2-2 draw at Cardiff, who had taken the lead late on through Jason Koumas. Joe Ledley put the Bluebirds in front in the first half before Tyrone Mears levelled for North End.

Ashley Young's eighth goal of the season four minutes from time salvaged a 1-1 draw for Watford at Hillsborough after Chris Brunt had fired Sheffield Wednesday into the lead, while Ade Akinbiyi scored the only goal as Burnley beat Leicester 1-0 at the Walkers Stadium.

Sam Bangoura marked his full debut for Stoke with the first goal in their 2-0 win over neighbours Crewe. Michael Duberry hit the second before he was sent off in the final minute.

Akos Buzsaky put Plymouth ahead at Loftus Road with a spectacular strike, but Kevin Gallen's penalty rescued a 1-1 draw for QPR.

Finally, Brighton stunned Crystal Palace in their derby at Selhurst Park, ending the Eagles' run of three straight victories courtesy of Paul McShane's late winner.
