Forest v Notts County given go-ahead dispite Nottingham riots

It seems that football matches aren't automatically always a casualty of the riots. There were several instances of vandalism and looting in the city last night and a police station was even fire-bombed, but Nottinghamshire Police are happy for this derby match to go ahead. My own (slightly cynical) view is that they think it will be cost effective to have a large police presence already deployed in an area which is adjacent to The Meadows, one of the 'problem' estates.

I used to live in The Meadows as a student. What a shithole. Mind you, St Annes is more problematic as that is where the gun crime seems to be. Neither are particularly close to the city centre though.
