Keep candles / cigarettes & ashtrays and other stuff like that well away from your Christmas tree. Plus check the fuse in the plug for the lights is rated correctly. Check the batteries in your smoke detectors too.

what a stupid "myth" to bust. anything electrical can be a potential fire risk, especially cheep decoration lights with over-rated fuses. i was never aware there was much risk from the heat of the lights causing a tree fire, it seems they've refocused the "myth" deliberatly in order to then prove it false.
