Five things you most love about your job

Five things you like most about your job, come on friends, what are they?

1. Unliimited web access so I can browse NSC, the true voice of modern Britain, because all the online newspapers are full of Britney getting her gash out or some other KACK and I have nothing better to do than pretend to be doing some actual WORK.

2. Being sat opposite a rather delightful American chick (bit on the lardy side but cute as hell. Come on you 30 somethings -- Marriage=Kids=Boredom=Fantasies that I havent got a hope in hell of realising, know what I mean, yah)

3. Not having to start work until 2 p.m. so I can get lashed rather more than I should and am subsequently able to miss the rush hour.

4. Getting a free taxi home from work if I ''work'' until midnight

5. Getting paid rather more than I fear I'm worth for a job I could do in my sleep and is really not that challenging (but, hey, we have all got kids and mortgages to pay for, RIGHT?)

1 - Internet accesss (within reason)
2 - I work with a really good bunch of people - I like them all. And they are 90% female.
3 - Ability to work from home if required - and an understanding that working from home actually means checking e-mail once in the morning, once in the afternoon and answering the mobile if called (great if you have kids and a wife whose job mean the occasional day out)
4 - I am left to look after my own area of responsibility with little interfering
5 - respect both for my abilities and those that i work with.

1) The beer trolley which is wheeled out at 5pm every Friday. On the company, just 'coz it's Friday afternoon.

2) I can't put that there are lots of very nice, very attractive females 'coz my g/f occasionally reads this site. Oh, hang on....

3-5) See 1

Edit: my boss is an Ipswich fan - he understands how important the footie is to me and lets me duck out half an hour early on midweek match days so I can get down to Brighton in time, 'coz he knows I'll pull the extra hours when necessary. That sort of generally grown up and tolerant atmosphere is pretty good.

1 - lengthy holidays per year compared to my previous jobs (30 days + 1 day the companies closed + 9 bank holidays)

2 - company frequently provides food for no apparent reason (and with enough warning that you can avoid bringing in/buying your own)

3 - work environment is extremely laid back, dress code is 'clean' and thats about it

4 - internet access is unfiltered for technical staff

5 - free newspapers

The Crew I work with are my best mates.

Everyday is different and you never know what you'll be required to do next.

On the whole, people are generally really pleased / relieved to see us turn up.

The times when people write to us to say 'thanks'. Or when people come to visit us down the Station when they get out of hospital. Massive sense of job satisfaction when that happens.

My mum's proud of me
