Guessing its the missing girl thread, and if so I can't believe there aren't more police visits around world as surely all chat forums talk about current media headlines, and there will always be people wanting to make stuff up.
(opinion based on not having a clue what was libelous as I didn't follow the thread past the OP).

Looks like the Tia thread has been deleted, so presumably that was the offending one.

Its an impossible task to moderate every post on this forum, theres always going to be some tool writing something OTT. But quite why the police feel moved to descend on the owner of a messageboard - wouldn't they be better channelling their efforts and resources to more important things ? You know, like finding dead bodies and whatnot.

Stick to football chat. Much easier !

Or stuff like the Olympics in the summer. Never ever has there been a more deserving THIS. Absolutely 100% spot on. Too many people have other topics/agendas that are better served on other specialist websites.

In fairness what makes NSC so good is the fact that other things are discussed. However some people need to understand the difference between voicing an opinion and libel. Just because you are hid behind a computer does not mean that anything you write is any different to putting a poster up and handing out leaflets with the same message.

I think what should happen with NSC, is that threads cannot be viewed unless you are logged in. lIt would then eventually stop Google spidering everything that is posted on this site. However I should imagine having Google Spider everything brings people to the site, which helps with revenue as regards the ads.

Must admit at the time it was amazing what people were prepared to write potentially on a place that would remain there forever. However, I'm surprised (or am I) the police have targeted here as much worse has been written elsewhere, or that they don't have more important things to do.

Doesn't the act of libel risk jeopardising any criminal investigations? I think that's what people are getting at here. It's why you can't post comments at the bottom of news articles during an active enquiry or during judicial proceedings.

I don't think anythin I posted in that thread was libellous, but I am sorry if it was, and will make extra efforts to b a lot more choosy about which comments I respond to or discussions I take part in in such threads in the future.

Massive "THIS". I don't understand how people can think they can hide behind their keyboard. There have been numerous warnings about this sort of thing in the past, I guess some people just never learn, look at the "Jamie" thread for example and what happened to him and all the info found out about him just by a few people on here who knew where to look, do they really think libellous comments can't be traced back to them if police get involved? Mind really boggles sometimes.

I would guess the offending posts where those that made unfounded allegations.

I am sure that Bozza has his reasons for not divulging the content, no doubt if he did the idiots would start posting, as some have already done on this thread. It is a bloody serious matter, And the idiots who think they are clever, just show themselves up for what they are. Bozza needs to know that we are 100% behind him, and I mean 100%, so cut out the stupidity.

You're right - just to be clear and pedantic - libel and contempt of court are not the same thing. Although it would be possible to commit both offences with one post if someone charged with an offence proves not to be guilty.

What always baffles me is people just speculating and repeating 85-th hand hearsay. Quite apart from breaking the law, people shoudl think about whether they have any factual basis for saying things about a case they personally know nothing about.

Or have the Football/ Non Football board split. The non football could be log in only.
